Traveling rules To prevent people from going anywhere they want, whenever they want, entering any topic or battle they please, there are specific rules in place that will help regulate these things and keep them as realistic as possible. These rules only apply to [important] topics. Traveling- Spoiler:
- Entering and Exiting your Village: When you have to leave the village, you will have to pass through its gates (open a topic) where the guards will confirm you have the right to leave. Trying to leave through any other path but the gates, without special permission from the Kage, will be considered an illegal action. Same goes when trying to enter.
- Traveling inside of a village: If you are already on a village, you are allowed to open a topic at any time (no need to pause between topics).
- Traveling Distances: If you travel beyond your village, but still within friendly territory, you will have to wait at least 6 hours before you can open a new topic and post in the destination. If you travel to other countries then you have to make a topic in the starting country as well as every country you pass along the way, with a 6 hour pause between each topic. Ex: Lets say you want to travel from the Wind to the Fire country. That would mean first making a topic in the Wind country (the one in the village gates doesn't count), then in the River or Rain country, and finally at your destination.
NOTE: [Casual] topics don't count as traveling. For example: Even if you post in a [Casual] topic in the wind country, you can't enter or open an [important] topic there if your last [important] topic was in a different country or back in your home village.
Being Intercepted- Spoiler:
If 2 ninja (or ninja teams) from different hostile villages find themselves in the same country, they can attack each other by posting a new topic with the word [Interception] in the title OR they can just post in the original topic of the one they are attacking. In ether case, the opposing party must be notified with a pm, email or chat announcement that they are being attacked. An interception can be made only if the one you are trying to intercept hasn't already posted a topic elsewhere, meaning they haven't left the country already. NOTE: People don't just disappear once they leave a topic. This means that if a ninja that leaves/escapes a topic doesn't post or open a new topic somewhere else within 24 hours, he will be considered as if he had never left/escaped the current topic. Escaping- Spoiler:
Escaping is always a good method of surviving a battle or to leave the rules of a village behind in order to follow your own dreams and objectives. However, escaping may sometimes prove difficult against some pursuers, or simply because you are too weak to be a challenge to even the weakest pursuer! That's why there are rules for that: Escaping a Fight: There is no shame in a tactical retreat, especially if outclassed. Still, it's not easy because if you just turn around and start running what’s stopping the enemy from sending several shuriken to the back of your head! Which is why: - Make a post, then inform an admin/mod that you are trying to escape. The admin/mod will read your post and see how good it is, then check your stats and skills, as well as those of your opponent. Taking all these things into consideration (mostly the quality of the RP though) he will decide upon a number between 1 to 99. This will be your "probability of success". He will then roll a 0~100 dice (admin panel option). If the number of the dice is equal or smaller than the probability number then the escape was successful, if its greater then it failed. An escape attempt may only be attempted once every 4 posts.
- A ninja may auto-escape safely if he has someone else to cover his back (PC or NPC ninja only. Clones, summons, pets ect...don't count). Just like if someone would try to run unprotected he could be heavily damaged, trying to stop another target with an opponent in front of you would probably result in the same thing. Goes without saying that this only works if there is an equal number of protectors as there are pursuers.
Escaping a Village (Going Missing Nin): If you want to escape a village, there are a few things that you need to do. You can't just run away without anyone noticing, you live in a Ninja Village for pete sake, someone will be guarding the Gates and Walls, someone may eventually notice you're gone (the ANBU aren't just for decoration). As such, you must create a topic with the sign "[Escaping]" in the topic's title. This way, people will know your intentions on that topic and may attempt to stop you or join you, although there are a few conditions to this as well: - A person trying to escape or stopping an escapee mustn't be in any other significant roleplay topic (an [important] topic) since this IS an [important] topic.
- The person trying to stop the escapee must have encountered him in a roleplay, a good contact, not just a simple "passing by". No, he must be well acquainted with the runner. ANBU members may ignore this condition.
- The number of people trying to prevent the ninja(s) trying to escape is limited. The number of pursuers cannot be greater by more than 1 person than the number of escapees (meaning if 2 people were running away then no more than 3 people may try to stop them). No more than 3 PC ninja may attempt to simultaneously escape in the same topic.
- People may join an [escape] topic only within the first 24 hours of when the topic was opened. After that no one else may join the topic, friend or foe. This is to avoid topics being finished on the run or deliberately dragged out just because some member got OOC knowledge that someone was running away and wants to join in (Personal Comment: OOCrs should die!).
Entering a Foreign Village- Spoiler:
Before you can travel to another village, YOU MUST KNOW WHERE IT IS. Just because you know a village exists, that doesn't mean you know WHERE it exists. You must have some form of valid justification that allows your character to know even the general location of where the village is. Whether that came from previous experience in the village (having been escorted to it), knowledge from another ninja from that village or etc. Any non-justified village contact topics will be voided. NOTE: Any PC village that doesn't attract a new member at least once every 3 weeks will automatically have its location revealed to every other village, organization and missing nin (thus leaving it vulnerable to attack). This rule may be changed once more members join the forum.
When you peacefully visit a foreign ninja village, there will be a few administrative procedures that you need to do before you can enter. Most notably is that your Kage has to announce your arrival by sending a bird message (or something similar) beforehand. When you get there the guards at the village gate will confirm if their Kage permits your entry. If circumstances (like an emergency) don’t allow the luxury of what was said above then when you near the village stick to the main road, hold your hands where the guys at the wall can see them (unless you want to be showered with kunai) and surrender. Then they will immobilize you and take you in so you could explain yourself. Doing anything else will be considered as a hostile action.
Attacking a Village (or missing nin hideout) or trying to sneak into one undetected is considered a "Forced Entry".
Attacking a village is fairly simple. Just open a topic in the village gates, add [Attack] or [WAR] or [Invasion] into the title and start bashing. Attacking a village is recommended only when done in great numbers otherwise you will probably be confronted in an unfair combat and will likely be killed.
Sneaking into a village is more tricky, but works in much the same way as escaping a fight. Inform an admin or mod and he will make probability dice roll whenever you make a significant action. Additional Travel Options- Spoiler:
If you want to use an additional travel option you must say so IN BIG BOLD LETTERS at the beginning or end of your post. - Retrieve: Unlike casual sparring, after a serious battle discarded weapons and items are not automatically placed back in your inventory. This option allows you to search and gather your stuff back. Increase Travel time to next topic by 4 hours.
- Rest: Unless you choose this option, if you enter another battle before reaching a safe haven you will be in the same condition as you were when you ended the last battle (same damage and exhaustion). Cannot choose this option if you are injured and have no healing supplies or a medic nin in your team. Increase Travel time to next topic by 4 hours.
- Loot: Allows you to loot the body of defeated enemies. You get 20% of their current money and any items you can carry with you. Increase Travel time to next topic by 4 hours.
- Stealthy: Allows you to open the next topic in the stealth section. Cannot do this if you have non-ninja people in your company. Increase Travel time to next topic by 12 hours.
- Caution: Attempt to reveal any ninja(s) that are currently posting in the stealth section. Inform a mod/admin when choosing this option so that he can make a dice roll to see if you are successful. Cannot do this if you have non-ninja people in your company. Increase Travel time to next topic by 8 hours.
- Ambush: If you are in the stealth section and you choose to intercept an enemy ninja(s), halve his BP and all your attacks get a +25% boost in the first post only. Inform a mod/admin when choosing this option so that he can make a dice roll to see if you are successful. Cannot do this if you have non-ninja people in your company.
